Documents Show Invitations to Epstein’s Island
The documents include emails indicating that the crown princess was invited on a minimum of two occasions, and Epstein’s schedule contains a January 2013 note labeled “Princess Mette to the Island.”
Despite this, the broadcaster said that after examining all available files in which Mette-Marit is mentioned, it found no documentation proving that she ever stayed on the island.
Palace communications manager Guri Varpe also confirmed to the broadcaster that the crown princess “has never been to Jeffrey Epstein's private island.”
The broadcaster added that after celebrating the Christmas holidays with her family on a Caribbean island, Mette-Marit later traveled by herself to visit Epstein at his villa in Florida, in the United States.
Additional emails suggest ongoing interaction between the two, showing that Epstein invited the crown princess to lunch, while she extended an invitation to him for dinner. One message cited in the documents shows Mette-Marit writing to Epstein: “I miss my crazy friend.”
Following the US Justice Department’s release of the latest Epstein-related documents on Friday, Mette-Marit said on Saturday that she should have conducted more thorough checks into Epstein’s background.
“I deeply regret that, and this is a responsibility I must take. I showed poor judgment and regret ever having any contact with Epstein. It is simply embarrassing,” she said.
