Norwegian Nobel Institute Shuts Down Transfer of Peace Prize to Trump

(MENAFN) The Norwegian Nobel Institute issued a definitive statement Friday shutting down any possibility of the 2025 Peace Prize changing hands after Venezuelan opposition figure Maria Corina Machado floated the idea of passing her award to US President Donald Trump.

"The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time," the Institute declared, emphasizing the irrevocable nature of the honor.

Machado received the prestigious recognition for her work championing democratic freedoms and advocating for a nonviolent shift away from authoritarian governance toward democratic rule in Venezuela.

During a Monday appearance on news television channel, Machado indicated that presenting the prize to Trump would represent Venezuelan appreciation for Washington's military intervention in her nation.

A January 3 US military incursion resulted in the capture of President Nicolas Maduro alongside his spouse.

When questioned whether he would accept the accolade if Machado chose to give it to him, Trump remarked: "I've heard that she wants to do that. That to be a great honor."
